Enjoy the spoils and make sure to comment! Commenting on the story gifted to you is mandatory (unless it isn't to your taste and you refuse the gift, which is fine, there are id mismatches sometimes). If you don't end up doing so before the next Hellaverse Exchange Event, you won't be able to sign up.
The collection will remain open for treats all throughout the anon period. So if there is still someone you want to make a gift for, you have a week before creator reveals close the collection.
